We know it can get confusing out there, especially when you’re new to vaping. What’s most important to us is giving you the knowledge to make the transition away from smoking, an easy one! That’s why we want to give you an understanding of PG (Propylene Glycol) and VG (Vegetable Glycerine). Let’s see what works best for YOU!
What is PG
PG or Propylene Glycol is a colourless and odourless liquid. It is thin in consistency and 100% safe for ingestion. PG is in e-liquids to provide a “throat hit”. Ex-smokers tend to like vape juices that provide a throat hit as it mimics the sensation of smoking. Propylene Glycol helps people move away from smoking, but still enjoy the feeling that tobacco gives them. Of course, without the harmful chemicals and additives!
What is VG
VG or Vegetable Glycerine is a derivative of vegetable oil. Just like PG, Vegetable Glycerine is recognised as safe for ingestion substance.
We use it in e-liquids to make the consistency thicker. That helps us create denser vapour clouds.
What is a “Classic” e-liquid?
When an e-liquid has a higher level of PG and lower level of VG we call it “Classic”. These vape juices are thinner in consistency.
Most often you’ll find that “Classic” e-liquids contain a PG ratio of 70% or higher. As we mentioned above, this is where the throat hit comes from. You’ll favour this kind of e-liquids if you are looking to quit tobacco but still want to have that sensation when vaping.
What is a 50/50 e-liquid?
Yup, you’ve guessed it. These e-liquids contain an equal split of VG and PG. 50/50 e-liquids are super versatile and can be used in any kind of device without giving it a second thought.
These vape juices also do a great job at emulating a cigarette so are well worth trying if you’ve just quit smoking.
If you’re new to vaping and wondering where to start, 50/50 e-liquids are a very good option. They offer a great balance between flavour and vapour production thanks to their PG and VG blend.
What is a Sub Ohm e-liquid?
We’ve talked about high PG, balanced PG and VG, so now let’s talk about high VG e-liquids.
With Sub Ohm e-liquids you’re getting more VG than PG which above all else makes for big clouds.
If a vape juice has a VG content of 50% or higher it is going to be considered a Sub Ohm liquid. It’s going to be thicker than the other options we discussed and will be best paired with a high-wattage device.
This is not necessarily an all-day vape liquid. It’s considered more of a hobbyist practice than a means to smoking cessation.
If you’re into big clouds and impressive flavour payoff, definitely give this style of e-liquids a try!
That’s simple enough, right? Now you’re set to figure out what kind of e-liquid is the best choice for you.
